Discover One of the First Proteomic Databases Devised
MendelBase™ is a web-based database of functional, biophysical and genetic attributes of proteins, launched in 2001. It was designed to allow contributors to freely enter proteomic information into its tree-like index structure having major branches corresponding to expression, function, genetic and structure categories. Facts pertaining to a given protein can be entered into appropriate subcategories using an on-line interface. The interface also allows addition of new subcategories to the index. Each fact entered into the index is linked via PubMed to the citation in which the fact was reported. Automatic population of the database with NCBI links pertaining to a protein can be achieved by entry of a GenBank GI/Accession number for the protein.
Contributors to MendelBase are welcomed
To gain access to the web-based data entry interface, contributors need only register to obtain a password (Click here to register). The database is edited by Dr. W. Scott Argraves at the Medical Univeristy of South Carolina (argraves@musc.edu).
